Water pumps, In Pakistan, water is the most precious commodity. Unfortunately, the water supply system in Pakistan has recently been plagued by water scarcity, and the situation is getting worse with every passing day. As a result, waterborne diseases are spreading at an alarming rate.
The water shortage calls for prompt action to curtail its negative impact on people’s lives. One of the areas where water scarcity has begun to take its toll is the agriculture sector which comprises 70 per cent of the population in Pakistan. Farmers have trouble growing crops because they cannot rinse them properly due to inadequate water supplies during summers, resulting in crop yields and income from farming activities. This results in unemployment and poverty for millions of rural farmers who live primarily below the poverty line.
Rural water supply systems are:
- Water pumps and water tanks.
- Water-tube wells (where water is pumped up from a depth of 80 to 200 feet).
- Open wells.
The rural population depends on these water sources for their domestic use and farming activities. Still, these water sources have become insufficient to cater for the needs of the local people. As a result, only three out of ten Pakistani’s get access to clean water.
The water crisis is worst in the rural areas of Pakistan, where water consumption is at its maximum amongst people of all ages.

Water supply solution for people
The water pump is an ideal solution to water scarcity and provides a water source when natural water sources have dried up or where they are contaminated. So the water pump has become one of the most valuable assets for poor people who cannot afford clean drinking water daily. And this leads them towards deadly diseases in Pakistan as Pakistani’s spend 85% of their income on food, rent & clothing, leaving no money left over to buy clean water for their families & themselves.
Water Pumps can provide water even if there is no nearby water source or electricity. It can be used by rural communities living below the poverty line where water is not accessible. Water pumps are also used for irrigation in water-scarce areas, and water tanks can be built to store water from the water pump. A water tank costs Rs800 ($8) and covers around 300 people with water, replacing their dependency on using polluted water from rivers or wells.
Water pumps in refugee camps
Water Pumps need to be provided in refugee camps. As this would help human beings face the crisis they are facing today. To raise awareness of safe water consumption among communities worldwide. We have launched a project called “Dignity through water,” under which we will provide 500 free water pumps every month. Starting from August 2017 till December 2018. It aims at reaching out to 1 million across the globe.
